A 9ct yellow gold unfolding masonic ball fob. This is a spherical piece of jewellery associated with Freemasonary which opens to reveal a series of connected symbolic imagery.
This particular masonic fob is a rare find with four different Masonic images. The ball itself is made to resemble a globe which represents the universality of Freemasonry. There is a star within the globe which is stamped with “Patent 9ct”.
When opened, the ball reveals four separate Masonic images.
The first image is the two pillars, with the initials J and B which stand for Jachin and Boaz, representing strength and stability. Secondly, the classic and recognisable square and compass symbol which portray morality and the tools of the craft. The five pointed star symbolises guidance or the divine. Lastly, the skull and crossbones is associated with mortality and the transient nature of life.
