Description
An exquisite Victorian starburst brooch and pendant combination, crafted circa 1875 in rich 15ct yellow gold.
This beautifully intricate piece features a layered, dimensional star motif, set throughout with lustrous seed pearls and centred with a single old-cut diamond, securely claw-set to catch the light.
The radiating design is typical of the celestial themes popular in the mid to late 19th century, with finely detailed goldwork and excellent symmetry enhancing its striking appearance.
The piece is highly versatile in function. On the reverse is a hinged pin and original “C” clasp, allowing it to be worn securely as a brooch.
At the top, a finely crafted bale is fitted, which can be used to suspend the piece from a chain as a pendant, or detached entirely if preferred.
Whether worn on a lapel, gown or necklace, this antique jewel makes a bold and elegant statement.
Presented in its original fitted case lined with velvet and silk, this jewel exemplifies the fine workmanship of the Victorian era.
A superb addition to any collection, and a rare opportunity to own a piece of genuine 19th-century craftsmanship.
