Description
This exquisite antique brooch/pendant dates back to circa 1860, showcasing exceptional Victorian craftsmanship. It is crafted in 18ct yellow gold on the back, with the front made of silver to enhance the brilliance of approximately 4.00 carats of old- cut diamonds. Old-cut diamonds are round diamonds primarily cut between 1860 to 1930. These antique diamonds have a special charm; crafted by hand, each stone reflects the skill and artistry of early diamond cutters who relied solely on their trained eyes, giving each diamond an individual character.
The brooch/pendant features a large central old cut diamond, securely held an eight- claw setting. Surrounding the centrepiece are eight old- cut diamonds forming the petals of a flower, creating a daisy motif. This is further encircled by a circular design, set with additional old-cut diamonds in round bezel settings and fleur-de-lys style settings.
The brooch is secured to the reverse with an 18ct yellow gold hinged pin and clasp. Its versatile design also includes a foldable pendant piece, allowing it to be elegantly suspended from a chain.
The intricate floral motif highlights the artistry of the era, making this piece a timeless and elegant treasure.
