Description
This finely modelled antique butterfly brooch is featuring scalloped wings, legs and antennae extending from the central body, intricately pierced and fitted to reverse with a detachable brooch piece.
The brooch is centrally set with two round old cut ruby ”eyes” in bezel setting , leading down to five graduating button pearls in a claw setting. There are two cushion shape old cut sapphires and two rubies in open back bezel and grain settings decorating butterfly wings encircled by cushion shape rose cut diamonds in open back claw settings. The gemstones are mounted in silver and gold, circa 1880. The approximate length: 3cm, width: 3cm, weight: 8grams.
