Description
This fine Victorian silver plated egg cruet set consists of six egg cups and six associated spoons, displayed on a functional, purpose-made stand with a central carrying handle.
The egg cups have a plain inverted bell-shaped form onto a leaf design circular spreading foot
The egg cups are ornamented with moulded bead pattern rims.
The six supporting spoons are sterling silver hallmarked London 1868 and have shield-shaped bowls and are plain fiddle pattern.
The reverse of each spoon is plain, apart from the featured hallmarks and has a rounded heel to the bowl.
These fine examples of Victorian silverware are supported and displayed on the original circular stand encircled with an applied bead pattern border to the rim with a pierced floral pattern above.
The surface of the stand is fitted with six original egg cup securing pegs.
The stand retains the original detachable cylindrical carrying handle with a large flower and bead terminal; securing to the underside of the stand with a wing nut.
The decorated base of the handle has a lobed, petal style form which acts as an integrated receiver for the eight egg spoons.
The stand is supported by three impressive opposing scroll and bead decorated bracket style feet accented with a chased decorated leaf motifs.
