Description
A magnificent turquoise and diamond serpent necklace with articulate gold snake-link body. The snake’s head is embellished with diamond eyes and graduated turquoise cabochons, suspending a gold and turquoise heart shape pendant drop with locket compartment to the reverse. There is finely scroll engraved background, all mounted in 18ct yellow gold with hidden clasp.
The snake has a rich history of symbolism. During the Victoria era, it symbolised enduring love, inspired by Queen Victoria’s engagement ring from Prince Albert – a snake biting its tail. Snakes in Victorian jewellery were also a status symbol of elegance, wealth, and prestige due to their intricate design, precious metals and stones that were used to craft them.
