Meet the team
Joe Goodwin has worked in the family business since childhood, spending holidays and weekends learning the intricacies of the silver and jewellery business from his father. Joe joined the family business full time in 1991 at the age of 17. Joe is Goodwins silver specialist with a particular interest in 19th century British silver.
Ben Goodwin joined the family firm in 1993 having left Trinity college where he studied business economics and then further studies in Paris. After a short stint at Polaroid the lure of the antiques trade beckoned and he has been at Goodwins ever since. A specialist in antique jewellery and particularly the Victorian period he is Goodwins’ primary purchaser and point of contact with regards to all second hand and antique retail and trade enquiries.
Morag Brechin began her career in retail jewellery in the 1970’s. At first with McGowans in Princes street and then on to further sales and management positions in other Edinburgh jewellers. With 32 years experience she joined Goodwins in Rose Street as manager in 2004 and through other management positions is now general manager of Goodwins in Queensferry Street. She has a passion for antique, modern and contemporary jewellery and silverware. Her vast experience and knowledge underlies her expertise and truly enjoys using this knowledge to give the best possible service to all our clients.
Angela Henderson has been with us since 2005, coming with a wealth of knowledge in both jewellery and watches gathered over her 21 years in the trade. Angela gained her National Association of Goldsmiths diploma and became the manager of our Rose Street branch in 2007 since then she has taken the store from strength to strength.
Anne Challoner is the assistant manager of our Rose street branch and has an invaluable knowledge of the jewellery trade. Anne began her career in the jewellery business 31 years ago. Anne’s passion for jewellery is obvious to all who meet her. A National Association of Goldsmiths diploma holder, her expertise and capable professionalism have served clients well throughout her career.
Mark Farquhar, our longest serving member of staff, having been with us for over 19 years started in retail in 1978. In 1982 he joined Mappin & Webb and was with them for six years before moving to Watches of Switzerland where he was assistant manager, selling the world’s most prestigious watch brands. In March 1996 he joined Goodwins as a sales consultant and is now the logistics manager based in our Queensferry Street branch.
Isabel Johnstone joined Goodwins over 30 years ago before moving to Mappin and Webb as a manager. After the closure of Mappin and Webb on George Street she returned to Goodwins and has resumed her role as a valued member of the sales team. Isabel has built up excellent client relations over her career and continues to enjoy fulfilling the requirements of our most discerning customers.
Glen Patterson has been a sales consultant at Goodwins since 2007 at our Rose Street branch. Glen has been involved in the jewellery business for over 30 years starting his career with Mappin & Webb where he gained an invaluable knowledge of all aspects of the trade which served him well when he moved on to the Signet Group and later to James Walker a long established independent jeweller.
Shirli O’Hara joined Goodwins at our Bank Street branch in 2010 after a long career in the jewellery trade. Starting at McGowans in 1975, after a break, she returned to the trade at Walkers Jewellers for over a decade and then joined our team. Proficient in all aspects of retail sales and service her vast experience within the trade makes her the ideal point of contact for both sales and repairs.
Alice Connolly graduated from Central Saint Martins with a degree in jewellery design and silversmithing and has since worked for a well established independent London jeweller. Alice keeps our social media updated and is available to help with any press enquiries. Alice joined Goodwins in October 2018 after relocating to Scotland and is primarily based at our Rose Street branch.
